Blame The Beatles. I saw them on The Ed Sullivan Show. I didn't really know what they were doing, just that I wanted to do it!
I have always wanted to play bass. I'm not a frustrated guitar player, just a frustrated bass player.
My main influences are Paul McCartney, John Entwhistle, and Jim Lea of Slade. Most people in the States are not familiar with Jim Lea; he is an amazing bass player well ahead of his time.
I have been playing bass since I was twelve, in bands since I was thirteen, and started in clubs at fifteen. I love playing live. Rock and roll should be loud, raw, and full of energy ... that it what I try to bring to JOHNNY SMOKE.
